Thaba Tseka ___ The Prime Minister has officially handed over a rural electrification project to the Mohlakeng Ha Motsóloane community on Friday.

Addressing the community, Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane stated that 421 households have been electrified through that project.

He mentioned that those include Ralibuseng, Ha Poli, Thoteng, adding that their connection means they are getting closer to their dream of having everyone connected to the grid by 2030.

At the same event, a Member of Parliament for Thaba Tseka Constituency Mrs. ‘Mamamello Holomo expressed gratitude to the government for making Mohlokeng ha Mots’oloane a lit nation.

She said the community had lost trust in them, particularly because they were excluded when the nearby communities were connected to the grid.

She continued to state that communities like Ha Khomo-ea-Leburu, Machaping, Matebeleng, Ha Laka, Kolberg, to mention a few, also need connection.

Mrs. Holomo also stated that, for economic growth, they are engaging with chain stores to invest in the district.

Chief Samonyane Ntaote, representing the Principal Chief, stated that they have been pleading with the government for a long time to establish a connection, and they are grateful that their dream has finally been realised.

At the same event, keys to newly built houses were presented to 10 households whose homes had been destroyed by strong winds, along with 50 kg of maize meal for each household.
