Road Fund Lesotho on Monday marked the celebration of the Fund's 30th anniversary at the event held in Maseru in presence of the Prime Minister, cabinet ministers, stakeholders and staff.
This celebration coincides with Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Day commemoration themed, 'Fund Resilience, Not Disasters'.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane said this is a significant national milestone saying the 30th anniversary is a celebration of progress, perseverance to build connections that not only connect roads but communities and people.
He said good roads are a necessity, they allow mothers in rural areas to reach hospitals on time, farmers get their products to the market and students to go to schools without any hindrance, he also indicated that Road Fund should be ready to fix potholes at all times.
As part of celebrating its 30th anniversary and social responsibility, Road Fund on Monday handed over a mobile court to the National University of Lesotho (NUL) at the event held in Maseru. The mobile court which will be used by the Faculty of Law is intended to support outreach programs for moot courts.
Matekane handed it over to NUL Vice Chancellor Professor Isaac Fajana, who thanked the government and Road Fund for the spectacular gift which he said it is going to help while taking justice to the people.
