Maseru __ Lesotho former Ambassador to the Italian Republic, Chief Thesele Maseribane held a conference meeting with the current Ambassador of Lesotho to the Italian Republic, Mr. Lebeko Sello at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
The discussion was initiated on the ongoing and progressing of Lesotho diplomatic engagements with the Italian Republic and UN Rome-based agencies FAO, IFAD, and WFP as His Majesty King Letsie III acted as the FAO Nutrition Goodwill Ambassador.
The meeting emphasized the significant role of Lesotho focusing on sustainable agriculture as well as the initiative efforts on food security.
Moreover, the two Ambassadors share different views based on the right methods in which the under-way projects projected to conquer the food security crisis and drive economic growth in the country can be executed as Lesotho continues to benefit from IFAD13, which supports rural development, small holder farmers and Agricultural transformation.
Meanwhile, former Ambassador of the Italian Republic, Chief Thesele Maseribane was also the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Lesotho to FAO who was honoured with a certificate of recognition by Africa region Group associated with the Food and Agriculture Organisation FAO.
That recognition celebrated Maseribane’s role as the SADC region coordinator for three key agriculture-based agencies: The World Food Program (WFP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and FAO in Rome.
Chief Thesele is also the former Political Party leader Basotho National Party (BNP) which is now led by Machesetsa Mofomobe.
