Qacha’sNek, Dec.15 --- As the Christmas break approaches, Qacha’sNek District Administrator (DA) Habofanoe Pheku has commended Heads of Departments (HODs) for their performance in 2025, while urging them to reflect on their work and strengthen collaboration to ensure better service delivery in the coming year.
Speaking during a meeting on Monday, Pheku said good performance is measured not only by executing planned activities but also by actively participating in meetings, planning effectively, and reporting progress.
“Good performance means executing activities according to plan, which symbolizes success,” he added.
He stressed that HODs should constantly self-assess and improve.
“Every HOD should take a mirror to assess their performance, change where needed, and strengthen efforts for greater success in the coming year,” Pheku said.
While ministries have different mandates, he said the overarching goal is to serve Basotho effectively.
“If we fail to serve our people, we have failed in our duty. We must reflect, identify weaknesses, and improve,” he said.
Pheku also praised the unity among Qacha’sNek HODs, describing it as exemplary and a model for other districts. He urged officials to maximize limited resources, work together, and prioritize the needs of the community over personal interests.
“Qacha’sNek HODs are known for their unity, which other districts admire. “We don’t have adequate resources to fulfil the government’s mandate, but with the little we have, let’s work together and serve our offices first, not prioritizing personal interests,” he said.
He reminded officials of their ultimate responsibility:
“Let’s remember why we are here; to serve the people. Without them, we wouldn’t be here.”
The DA’s remarks underline the importance of self-reflection, teamwork, and dedication as Qacha’sNek HODs prepare to enter 2026, aiming to build on successes, address weaknesses, and continue prioritizing the needs of the public over personal gain.
