MASERU — The minister of Gender, youth and social development announced that the ministry will roll out a fourth cohort of the Sebabatso and STEAM 2026 youth empowerment initiative nationwide campaign aimed at equipping young people with entrepreneurship and business development skills.

In his speech on Thursday, the minister of Gender, youth and social development honourable Pitso Leasaoana mentioned that in preparation of this year’s Sebabatso youth programme youth competition, the ministry and partners will visit all ten districts to sensitize the public about Sebabatso and STEAM programmes. Honourable Lesaoana explained that the ministry in collaboration with partners will engage with the public through different councils.

Honourable Lesaoana said during the district campaigns, internet illiterate people will also be assisted through application process. He noted that the applications for Sebabatso and STEAM are still open for interested applicants, explaining that the application dateline that was scheduled till 31st July has been extended to ensure that every youth is given enough time and opportunity to place their applications.

Meanwhile honourable Lesaoana further noted that the ministry is aware of the fraudulent acts and scams made online about Sebabatso and STEAM programmes, emphasising that the application does not require any fee. Furthermore Honourable Lesaoana called on to Basotho to grab the opportunity to attend the campaigns in different districts from the 20th   July to the 12th August.

Honourable Lesaoana mentioned that the campaign will commence in Botha-Buthe district ahead of international youth day that will be celebrated on the 12th august, and the campaign will be officially closed by the right honourable the Prime Minister.
