Students in senventy-four out of hundred government universities in Nigeria, have not had classes for a period of close to a month, as teachers have been on strike protesting funding for education and increase in their salaries.

Students who can afford are moving towards private institutions, while those who cannot are staring at an uncertain future, as the deadlock between the government and the teachers continues.

The libraries with few outdated books and journals, are reported to be the most populated areas of the campus, because of the availability of free internet connection.

Reports indicate that lecturers are not in a hurry to come back to work, saying they have tolerated the government for too long.

Abubakar Sabo of Usman Dan Fodio University, says their libraries have outdated books, and their laboratories do not have chemicals, and because of these their university is poor in terms of manpower training and development.
