THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION ALLUDES THAT AGRICULTURE SHOULD BE PRACTICED IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
07 December 2018 | 00:57

The Minister of education Honorable Ntoi Rapapa says besides disabilities in discipline in schools, his ministry is faced with challenges that include inadequate food supply within the school feeding programme and shortage of teachers.

This he affirmed in an interview with Harvest FM ,where he alleged that the department has not yet identified the reasons behind students carrying guns and other weapons to school, while harming and abusing others in the process.

Concerning the feeding programme, he pointed that children have ceased growing their own crops in schools    alluding that students in primary schools that have land, should resume the good practice in order to learn more about agriculture and challenge status quo.

Furthermore he stated that the ministry has accomplished a number of successes, highlighting a total of 18 schools( 8 High Schools and 10 Primary Schools) built with a sum of 20 million Maloti that was allocated to the ministry for construction of classrooms in the rural areas where they are needed the most

On the other hand he expressed hope that a law ruling out that Primary School Headmasters be employed under a permanent and pensionable contract ,would be enacted as soon as parliament re-opens in January 2019 to counteract the present state whereby such civil servants are not stable and not entitled to a pension.
