Four men appeared in the Maseru Magistrates Court on the 13th February 2020, charged with theft of property from the Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC).

The four men are thirty-eight years old retired LEC former employee Paseka Tlokotsi, thirty-five years old Fusi Tlokotsi, twenty-eight years old Kubu Tlokotsi all from Sekoting Ha-Leqele in Maseru, and thirty-five years old Kobeli Motete of Ha-Rathoko in Ha-Matloheloa, who was a security guard at LEC.

The accused number two and three are the sons of the accused number one, and they were all given a bail of M500.00 which they paid, and they will next appear in court on the 25th February 2020.

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli explained that the property disappeared in 2010 until last year.

He said the suspects broke into the store room at LEC, and stole the property worth M315 792.

In a statement, he said since investigations in this case resumed on the 23rd January this year, three LEC employees have resigned when they were summoned for questioning.
