What started as a sorrowful day of Ralikonelo Joki's funeral, turned out to be an eventful day with initiates celebrating his life. The initiates neutralized the grave mood by singing, reciting poems culturally honoring the deceased. In her remarks, Minister of Information, Communications Science, Technology and Innovation Ms. Nthati Moorosi passed condolences saying one of her soldiers has fallen. She also indicated that killing one of the journalists was to instill fear in them and that threatens the foundation of democracy.

The minister highlighted that the government is going to strengthen the issuing of firearms and licenses. Maama Principal Chief Mitchell Maama said Joki was a man who loved tradition and worked hard to instill culture in young people. He said guns are in the wrong hands and it is up to the government to take action.
