LESOTHO HOSTS ANTI-CORRUPTION SYMPOSIUM

Maseru, Aug 23 -- Lesotho will host the 2023 anti-corruption symposium on September 22, 2023, Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) has shown.

According to DCEO Director Public Education and Corruption Prevention, Mr. Litelu Ramokhoro said the symposium will bring together DCEO and their counterparts in the region with the aim to network, learn and share experiences.

He stated that the need to integrate ideas of those doing similar work is important to root out corruption in its different forms. “Agenda 2063 further calls for alleviation of corruption if countries are to attain economic growth,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ramokhoro mentioned that during this upcoming activity, there will also be road shows intended to promote awareness raising against corruption. He appealed to Basotho to avoid by all means possible engaging in corrupt activities.

Meanwhile, the Agency has established that this comes after the celebration of 20th anniversary of the adoption of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption.


DCEO commenced its work in 2003, this institution was formed in line with DCEO Act No.5 of 1999 as amended to address all problems of corruption. DCEO is led by the new Director General, Advocate Motlalekhotso Knorx Molelle.
