Three Lesotho Mounted Police Service officers were arrested on Friday over the murder of constable Mokalekale Khetheng, who went missing in March last year until his body was exhumed and identified by his family on Friday.
Acting police commissioner Holomo Molibeli told said police were granted an exhumation permit by the High Court.
"During the exhumation Khetheng's family members were there with the police and the tests by police pathological experts confirmed that indeed Khetheng was buried by Lesotho Funeral Services with the unknown or unidentified corpses," Molibeli said.
He confirmed the detention of the three police officers – senior inspector Matona, inspector Mofolo and sub-inspector Taasoana – while investigations into the circumstances around Khetheng's murder proceeded. According to the acting police boss the trio will be taken before the court of law next week.
