14 February 2018 | 10:04

The representative of the Media Institute of Southern Africa(MISA Lesotho), at the commemoration of the world radio day held in Maseru yesterday Mr Boitumelo Koloi, reminded media houses that their main role is to unite the nation.

Speaking on behalf of MISA at that event Mr Koloi said some journalists ignore their responsibility and use radio to devide the nation. He said the theme for this year is “Radio and Sports”, and it shows that the live broadcasts of sports activities can unite people.

During that event Mr Thabo Tsiki from the Ministry of Gender, Sports and Recreation thanked UNESCO for including sports in this year’s theme, saying both sports and media can grow if media plays its major role.

He further said the country can be developed through sports, as players can also make a living through sports if media is used to publicise sports activities.

The World Radio Day is observed on the 13th February every year, to remember the unique power of radio to touch lives and bring people together across the world.
