The Basotho National Party(BNP) commemorated 55 years of its existence in Maseru yesterday, since it was initiated on April the 4th 1959.

Speaking at the event the party leader Chief Thesele ‘Maseribane, said BNP associates itself with the nation especially women, as they are the ones who are mostly discriminated in issues relating to the government.

He said BNP recognized women to join politics earlier than other political parties, promoted them to leadership positions, gave them an opportunity to vote and to be voted, in times when women were not easily allowed to join politics.

He went on to say BNP ensured education for all in the country, and further made an example that BNP built schools in the country, including Lesotho College of Education(LCE), to train teachers who will teach Basotho in schools.

He called on Basotho to fight for peace in Lesotho and love Lesotho, as Dr Jonathan Leabua fought for Lesotho and Basotho.
