The Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane applauded United Nations (UN), for bringing positive impact on the lives of countless people, which include feeding more than 104 million people in more than eighty countries every year, assisting millions of refugees and protecting women and children, fighting poverty, HIV/AIDS and restoring peace through peacekeeping initiatives.

He expressed this last Friday when addressing the heads of states and governments, at the 73rd UN Annual General Assembly in New York America.

Dr Thabane indicated that when he was addressing the 72nd UN Session last year, he did so with a heavy heart, as there was a dark cloud of instability and insecurity hovering over his country.

He said this time he stood before the UN heads of states and governments, to address the difference UN can make in peoples’ lives.

”Through the help of the UN, SADC, African Union(AU) and other development partners, we’re on the path towards changing the trajectory of vicious cycle of instability and volatile insecurity in Lesotho,” Honorable Thabane stated.

“The Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho is now embarking on a comprehensive national reforms agenda that will culminate the calibration of pivotal elements of government and thereby achieved the tenets of the national 2020”, he stated

He said their shared commitment as the nation to transform Lesotho into a just prosperous and stable country, marked by effective and people focused institutions, national unity of purpose rule of law, good governance and human rights will certainly be attained in Lesotho.
